100 Days

Today GHC turned 100 days old.  Of course, that doesn't mean much to most of us, but in the Korean culture, it's a big effin' deal.  The 100-day mark is celebrated with a big party, ridiculous costumes and lots of food.  (As my dad likes to say) "Back in the olden days", Koreans, thought it was bad luck to celebrate a baby's arrival prior to its birth or within the first 100 days.  That was, of course, during a time when infant mortality rates were much higher due to poor standards of living.  Although the superstition is probably less appropriate with S. Korea's rapid post-war modernization, it is a tradition still celebrated by most Koreans.

Unfortunately, since we're hundreds of miles from our nearest Korean kinfolk, we didn't get much opportunity for a party.  But GHC did decide to celebrate her 100 days by demonstrating that she can stick her entire fist in her mouth.
